Odisha is an Indian state it's located in Eastern India. It is the 8th largest state by area, and 11th largest state by population . The Neighbour state of Odisha is west Bengal and Jharkhand to the North, Chhattisgarh to west, Andhra Pradesh to south. Odisha has a costal line of 485 Kilometers along the bay of Bengal. The region is also known as Utkal and is mentioned in India's national anthem, " JANA GANA MANA" . The language of Odisha is Odia It was the classical language in India.
The ancient Kingdom of Kalinga Which was invaded by the Mauryan Emperor Ashoka in 261 BCE resulting in Kalinga war, coincided with the boarders of modern day Odisha. The modern boundaries of Odisha were demarcated by the British Indian Government When Orissa Province was established on 1 April 1936 consisting of the Odisha Speaking district of Bihar and Orissa province. The first of April is Celebrated as Utkala Diwasa. Cuttack was made the capital of the Region by Ananta Varma Chadaganga in c 1135, after which the city was used the capital by many rulers, through the British era until 1948 there after, Bhubaneswar Became the capital of Odisha.
The Economy of Odisha is 16th largest Economy in India with 5.33 lakh crore in gross domestic product and a per capital GDP of Rs - 116,614 Odisha Ranks 32nd among Indian State in human development index .
